Easy to make and a great source of drink.
Add water, tea bags, sugar in a pot.
Bring to boil, until the water turns dark, almost black.
Remove from stove and allow to cool, almost to body temperature.
Add your Kombucha starter, with the mother or Scooby.
Store in a dark undisturbed place for almost 3-4 weeks, and covered with cheesecloth or clean dish towel.
You will notice the mother would have added another layer on the initial or original Scooby, sometimes it would have black frothy and slimy strings attached to it, it is totally normal.
And also you will notice the drink is slightly lighter than before, its totally normal.
Making your own Scooby:
Ferment the brewed tea in a dark or away from direct sunlight.
After 3 - 4 weeks you will notice the scooby starting to develop, or buy a small Kombucha tea from the local store (not flavoured).
Add to your tea as a starter.
Take out the Scooby and some of the juices, into a separate jar.
This is for preserving the Scooby for the next batch.
You can ferment it longer to form fizz on it, but at this point is almost fine to drink as is. You can add in flavours, like fresh or frozen fruits. Delicious drink and has tons of health benefits to it.
